Velvet Panda Lounge
A lounge bar website that shows the mood before the first visit.
Challenge
Lounge bars often live on social media and map listings. The menu is a photo of a printed card, the opening hours sit in an old post, and the thing people actually come for, the atmosphere, barely comes across. Yet guests pick where to spend the evening on their phone.
What we built
One long page that works like walking in. A full-height hookah stands beside the text, and the "camera" pans down it as you scroll, with three layers of slow smoke on top. Scrolling stays smooth on phones, and a guest who has turned animations off in their device settings gets a calm page without the smoke and the panning. The opening hours are live: today's row is highlighted, and a status line says whether the lounge is open right now or when it opens next, including the Friday and Saturday nights that run past midnight.
The menu is four cards with prices. Below come a gallery of the real interior, news, reviews, and a map with contacts, so a guest can call or get directions without leaving the page.
How it went
The owner asked us to make it look expensive. The site went live in July 2026.
For this portfolio we changed the client's details: we translated the site, moved it to a fictional address in London, redrew the map and made the "open now" status follow the venue's own time zone instead of the visitor's.
Result
Everything a guest checks before going out fits into one scroll: what the place feels like, what it costs, whether it is open right now and how to get there.
“I asked for it to look expensive and was afraid of getting gold letters on a black background. Now people check the menu before they come, not at the table.”
